Food Review - Roma Pizza

I am not a pizza person. The overswhelming taste of cheese sometimes make me dizzy and high. Hence, I would usually avoid having pizza especially those with cheese. However, this time around I made it an exception since I am having lunch with someone whom I hardly meet nowadays due to work commitment. Sorry Fadzillah, sibuk skit lah sekarang.

Hence, I wanted to eat at somewhere is not that crowded and where we can talk and do some catching up. I suggested this place located in Avenue K called Roma Pizza.

Roma Pizza is a small outlet but the ambiance is very nice and comfy. Not too many tables located in the pizza place and they have more outside the place. They also have this bar stool like table which create a casual scenario.

What special about this place is the pizza is served on a plank. Very unique which you don't really find in other pizza place. Other places usually served on a pizza pan - biasa je lah.

I love the BBQ Chicken Wing here. The dip is also nice, the normal chilli sauce with added spices and herbs. Awesome!

Ambiance - 3.5 - love how they decorate this place, very suitable if you are having lunch with friends

Location - 3 - Strategic!! Just next to KLCC LRT station.
Taste - 3.5 - prefer the pizza here, very crispy and

Service - 2.5 - lembab skit ler, pastu mcm tak pay attention jer....

Price - 3.0 - for this kind of food, I don't mind paying....

Try this place. You won't regret it!!!

Food Review - Harrods KLCC

I always love Harrods. Back when I was younger and still enjoying my dad's entitlement working with MAS, we went to London quite frequent. Apart from visiting Asda, Queen Anne and other locations, Harrods was another venue which is a must to visit.

So, when I heard Harrods KLCC is opening, I was very excited. I miss all the trips we used to have and having to have one store which I adore right beneath where I work is something I really look forward to.

However, I was quite dissapointed. The variety of products were very limited and it looked like a bakery rather than a real Harrods. What do I expect? If I want a real Harrods, it should be as big as Suria KLCC kan?

Anyway, one day we went to have our lunch there. Never felt so English before. Again, the menu was very limited and not really suit the Asian taste. I guess they really bringing the authentic Harrods to Malaysia.

I had the roaster chicken while a friend of mine had this beef steak with this custard thingy, entah apa namanyer, forgot lah.

The review :

Ambiance - 3 - not too bad, overlooking the KLCC water fountain
Location - 3 - If I am already in KLCC, convenient lah.

Taste - 2.5 - dasar perut melayu so not really to my liking
Service - 3 - very polite and courteous, however, the food was a bit slow and I was really starving!
Price - 2.0 - mahal siut. Meals for 3 person was RM160!

I will only come here again if someone else is paying. Otherwise, makan kat food court jer ler.

Food Review - Bangi Kopitiam

Kopitiam, kopitiam, every where you go there's kopitiam with all kinds of name. Oldtown lah, new town lah and many more to mention.

However, the kopitiam I am gonna talk about is the Bangi Kopitiam located in Bandar Baru Bangi. Was told this place is owned by Kid, the former Search guitarist. Not sure how true this is and was made to understand this place also have several outlets in the city.

This review is a combination of 2 visits to this place. First one was just me and my better half and the other visit was with the cuties.

The first visit, we ordered Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang, toast bread with scrambled eggs and bread with chicken curry. And of course, what's a visit to kopitiam without having the kopi o kaw!

The second visit, we had mee hoon hailam, nasi ayam hainanese, asam laksa, toast bread with half boiled eggs on top and toast bread. Having difficulty to load this photos, will do so once I get the freaking internet to work here in BSP.

My ratings :

(4 being the highest)

Taste - 2.5, ok lah, not up to my expectation but not too bad either

Ambience - 3 with real kopitiam ambience, the furniture and decorations were suitable.

Location - 3 suitable with ample parking.

Price - 3 oklah, not too bad just like other kopitiam's pricing.

Will I come here again, maybe if I am craving for the kopi o yg memang kaw and the tasty toast bread with butter and kaya. The rest, not so lah.

Food Review - Pizza San Fransisco

Friday night as usual is the eat out night and last Friday was not an exception. We wanted to go western that night and just then we thought of the pizza place at the junction of BBB going towards the Seremban highway. This place is called Pizza San Fransisco.

We noticed this place is always packed with customers and now we not why. Let me share with you our experience here.

This place is super fast and the employees here are VERY friendly, polite and courteous. I mean this and felt so welcome here. They also took the time to explain about the menu should we don't really understand. Al maklumlah, akak nie kan melayu...so menu org putih kadang2 tak paham....

Strawberry float
Mushroom soup with garlic bread

Spaghetti bolognese - the food was really presentable, tak sempat ambik gambar, the cuties were already mixing this

The dessert - cheese cake

The cuties had a great time, the food was excellent and awesome!

And my ratings....5 for all!!!!

Food Review - Warung Kak Aishah, Bandar Baru Nilai

We have ran out of ideas on what to eat. We had tried practically most of the outlets in BSP and don't feel like driving to BBB.

My better half just drove around Bandar Baru Nilai in search of food. We were starving, the clock showed 3.15pm and we have yet to have our lunch.

Then, while driving to Desa Melati(yer kot, forget2 remember lah!), we came across this place called Warung Kak Aishah. We saw quite a big crowd here, and assuming the food must be good since many people were enjoying their food.

My hero and princess ordered Laksa. Sedap!!!

My better half and my baby had Nasi Ayam. Biasalah, perut melayu, tak dapat nasi tak sah.

While I ordered Kuey Teoe Goreng and requested for this to be extra spicy.

We also ordered ABC, suitable for the hot weather.

If you noticed, my hero ordered Laksa kan but now he is eating Kuey Teow. After he finished his laksa he tried my Kuey Teow and love it! So, he ordered another one.

So, the review :

Ambiance - 3 - oklah, just like the typical gerai place

Location - 3 - Along the shoplots so quite convenient. Parking will not be a problem.

Taste - 3.5 - excellent, memang sedap giler!!

Service - 3.5 - excellent! fast and sopan sungguh

Price - 3.0 - not bad. for this good food, very affordable.

Will surely make another trip to this place again. The kuey teow goreng is to die for!!!

Food Review - Breakfast @ Bangi Lama

We(ok lah, I didn’t, only my better half and the cuties went as I have my own gotong royong at home which is more important!) attended this gotong royong organized by the resident of our neighbourhood. This event was officiated by the Adun of our area. It started very early, around 7am. Sape lah yg bangun tidur pukul 7am on a weekend kan? Well, not me! I will always go back to sleep after solat subuh.

They went to the gotong royong around 8.30am which was a good thing cause the gotong royong only started around that time. Kalau sampai awal, jenuh ler nak tunggu.

The gotong royong ended around 10 and coincidently, my gotong royong at home ended around that time. So, it’s time for breakfast and we made our way to Bangi Lama since I need to send my pants for alteration(best giler sluar slack smua dah longgar so kena kecikan). We saw this Nasi Lemak Stall right at the smack of Bangi Lama. And no name was indicated in front of this stall so takde ler teman tau apa namanyer.

They also served Lontong and Soto but all were sold out by the time we arrived. Tinggalah nasi lemak but the variety of lauk for the nasi lemak is still very wide.
Each of us had different type of lauk : I had Hati Ayam, my better half telur goring with sambal kerang, my princess sambal udang, my hero ayam goreng and my baby sambal sotong.

Here’s the review :

Ambiance - 3 - love it, really like the gerai environment
Location - 3 - very convenient to where we live, about 5 minutes drive but parking may be a problem

Taste - 3.5 - sedap, nasi and the sambal was a fab!

Service - 3.5 - very polite and courteous

Price - 4 - I have to give a four, you know why, with all the above plus drinks, we only paid RM12.50. Murah sungguh ke salah kira!

Love this place and will surely come again. Perhaps a little bit earlier next time so we can taste the lontong.

Food Review - Teh Tarik Place

We were so tired after visiting this sale that we need to stop and have a drink for awhile before we continue our journey to visit this.

We don't really know where to eat. Food at The Curve is not that enticing to us. So, we walked further and we came across this place called Teh Tarik Place.

The place was quite pack with people which can mean few things ; the food is good, the food is cheap or people just sat there cause there are many people who sat there i.e. going where the crowd goes.

So, we ordered variety of food in the menu. Of course, Teh Tarik, otherwise what's the point eating at a Teh Tarik Place.

Sup Kambing

The service was quite frustrating aka lembab!!!! We wanted to order air kosong cause the cuties drink was finished while waiting for the food to arrive and that itself took about 10 minutes. And to make matter worse, due to communication barrier, we ordered one thing and they sent something else. Tension betul!!!

Now the review.

Ambiance - 2.5 - quite hot, dah ler service lembab so makin hot.

Location - 2.5 - The Curve is ok but the place is quite secluded. If you don't walk around you may not encounter this place

Taste - 3 - oklah, like typical mamak shop, the teh tarik was nice though

Service - 0.5 - this is me being kind! If me being honest, they deserve negative points.

Price - 2.0 - dah le lembab, mahal pulak tu.

So, there you have it, my take of this place. Remember you merchandiser out there, no matter how good your food may be if the service is lembab, no pointlah brother!!!

Warehouse Sale Review - Esprit Clearance

I was tired after all the walking but the moment I saw this signage, the energy started to pump in. And I was already in the mood again for shopping!!!

There are alot of stuff on sale that day. And since it was the first day of the sale, they gave 25% discount for all things were on sale.

I saw many things I like but just couldn't fit into. T-shirts normally sold at the range of RM90 to RM150 were sold for RM19.90 and after the 25% discount, the price was RM14.93.

Jeans were also available but again, the issue was with the size. There were also coats and shorts...

Despite all the limited choices due to the hugeness of my body, I only managed to get this pair of jeans. And I felt good about it cause I have dropped 3 jeans sizes!! That's a great accomplishment.

So, hurry on to the sale. This will end this Sunday, 14 June 2009. But, too bad, no 25% discount!

Warehouse Sale Review - Living Quarters

I know some of you are waiting for this review so, let's just get straight to the point.

We arrived this location around noon and the crowd was not that large. Parking will not be an issue at all as the location Stadium Melawati Shah Alam has ample parking space. For those who don't know where this place is, it's near the big stadium where the football match are usually held.

Amboi my better half, laju dia jalan menonong, sape yg excited nak pegi sale nie?

Below is the opening hours. The sale started on Wednesday(10 June) and ending this Friday (14 June).

When we arrived, they just started the Happy Hour where the price was marked down further from the already discounted price.

The place was big and huge, most importantly fully air conditioned, hence it was very comfortable to shop. I think they learnt from the past warehouse sale they organised. They change the methods, when we want to purchase something, we were given the sale voucher and once payment is made, then we can collect the items. This is very convenient as we don't have to carry all the stuff around and it also causes no long que to pay as no packing of the stuff purchased required. Sorry, no photo in the stadium, was busy shopping!

Outside the venue, there were a lot of stalls where we can eat after all the shopping. We choose not to eat here as we have another destination to go after this.

What we purchased?

This 2 comforter set ; the brown one was purchased during the Happy Hour, original price RM700, original discounted price RM250, further marked down to RM150. This will be for our bedroom. We also got a free pillow somemore! The purple one, after 70% discount, RM89. This will be for the guest room.

This bathroom set at RM8.95 per set. Original price was RM25. We got 3 of this.

Table cloth, the big one original price RM129, after 70% discount RM35. The other one, RM19.90, after 70% discount RM6.

This shampoo and hair mask with body scrub all made from natural ingredients selling at RM5 each. Shampoo for the cuties, RM12 each. Besar gedabak, should last for more than 6 months.

And for purchases above RM300, will entitle you to participate in the lucky dip with quite attractive prizes. The winners are notified daily by phone calls and prizes need to be collected the next day, and guess what, we won! Will blog the prize we won after collecting it.

For those who loves pinggan mangkuk, cuttleries and other related items from major brand including Queen Anne, this is a sale you don't want to miss! I did not purchase any of that cause I am not into that kind of stuff.

Food Review - Delicious Cafe, Jalan Pinang

One of my workmate just got promoted and she had booked our time to give us a treat over lunch at this place near KLCC called Delicious Cafe. The exact location is below the MARC apartment at Jalan Pinang. (picture courtesy of googleimage)

I wasn't sure whether I could make it as I was tied up with another engagement however, since Salwa really wanted for us to be there, I still proceed to the venue and was the last one to arrive.

Maryam was kind enough to pre-order for me, I just told her order me anything which resembles beef steak and she choose this dish which was delicious!

They also served this appertizer some sort like cracker dipped in this patte made from liver. I tried it once and did not really enjoyed it. For the second try, I had only the cracker.

The girls ordered 2 type of dessert, one this chocolate brownie with ice cream on top and another one is the bread pudding. They said it's delicious!

Now the review...

Ambiance - 3 -oklah, the typical cafe environment, like Dome, Starbuck etc....
Taste - 2.5 - Only the steak caught my attention. The rest, so and so lah

Location - 3 - high traffic area and walking from KLCC is not that far but when you combined hot weather and walking, what is near seems to be very far

Service - 2.5 - when I wanted to order drinks, the first 4 choices I made were not available. So, I had to ask them, what do they have, and end up ordering Coke.

Price - 2.5 - took a peak at the bill and quite pricey.

Despite the good food which I was told off, I think this place is not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, thanks Salwa for the treat!

Food Review - Nasi Lemak Ayam Kampung Bandar Baru Bangi

Last night, I was so exhausted coming back from work that this was written all over my face. I was also thinking what should I cook for the cuties and would prefer to just prepare simple dish since I was not really in the mood to cook.

Seeing this, my better half suggested for us to eat out instead. Usually, I am against the idea of eating out except for our usual Friday night happy hour. But, I know I have very limited energy that night, and thinking I have to fold the clothes as well, I accept his idea.

Next predicament, where to eat...We drove around BBB and came across this place near the Tasik Cempaka, BBB called Nasi Lemak Ayam Kampung. The ambiance is interesting, exactly next to the lake.

I know I am supposed to be on diet but I did not have any food during the day except for a very light breakfast so I thought I can have a plate of Nasi Lemak Ayam Kampung(nie kira statement penyedap hati, padahal, no rice langsung sepatutnyer)

My better half and my princess had the same dish I ordered while my hero ordered a plate of spaghetti bolognese. My baby, who just had an early dinner at my mom's place, settled for a Pau Kaya.

Now the review :

Ambiance - 3 -Love it at first until the mosquitoes there start assaulting my feet.

Taste - 3.5 - The sambal was awesome. The rice was ok and the ayam kampung was cooked to perfection, not too crispy and not too soggy, just right

Location - 3 - great location, right in the middle of BBB

Service - 3.5 - fast and courteous.
Price - 3 - reasonable, we felt that it's the right price to charge

To those who live in BBB area, why don't give this place a try. They have variety of menu from Nasi Lemak to Western food. They also serve Char Kuey Teow but the time we went, that stall was closed. Children would love it there, but careful. Jangan bagi anak2 terjun tasik dah ler...

Food Review - Nasi Beriani Gam Putrajaya

Last Saturday, we wanted to watch the Dragon Boat race and exhibition in Putrajaya. We thought this will happen until night time however by the time we reach there around 6.30pm, all stalls have started packing and ready to go home. I guess we were too late and actually the event ended at 5pm. We told the cuties we will come here again.

My baby was already hungry and I don't feel like going to Alamanda. Bosan ler pulak every weekend we have been coming to Alamanda.

I suggested to my better half, why don't we take the cuties to Nasi Beriani Gam Putrajaya. We've been there once and that was without the cuties. Since it's not that far to drive, we made our way to that direction.

We ordered Nasi Beriani Gam Ayam for the girls while my better half and hero wanted the mutton beriani. My baby actually wanted Ayam Masak Merah but it was all sold out. So, she settled for Ayam Masak Beriani instead.

Here's the review :

Ambiance - 2.5 - It's like a typical stalls so nothing to shout about.

Taste - 2 - For this trip, quite dissapointing. The first trip was much better. This time the gravy tasted a bit bitter, like the spices were too much.

Location - 3 - at that time quite strategic, but parking maybe a problem

Service - 3- not bad and quite fast

Price - 2.5 - On the high side. The beriani ayam costs us RM11 each while the mutton RM13 each.

I don't think we will come here again. Don't want to be dissapointed again

Food Review - De Palma Cafe

Why were the cuties looking so restless. Did Liza wrongly put the title for this entry...Isn't it supposed to be the food review entry...

Well, this was our wedding anniversary dinner. Not really planned cause we thought to have a simple affair this year. Just dinner and presents were not made mandatory (though my better half cheated by getting me a very nice name card holder and he argued because he thought I need that for my job, ye lah bang!). We don't have a good idea where the dinner should be. Then, I remembered while driving around BBB, I saw this De Palma Cafe located in the PKNS building. If I'm not mistaken, this is part of the De Palma Hotel management.

We arrived there around 8.05pm. There were not many people around which we were so glad thinking we will not have to wait so long for the food. How wrong was thought.
Baby had mushroom soup which arrived 30 minutes after we ordered. And that my friend, is only mushroom soup.

My hero ordered buttered chicken rice and came 15 minutes after baby's order. He was starving and immediately digged in the food. He did not talk to anyone while eating, pandang kiri kanan pun tak. That's how hungry he was. Similar to my princess who ordered Chinese Fried Rice. Sampai tak sempat ambik gambar the food dah habis.

I ordered this sour sop juice and rib eye steak. Arrived over an hour after ordering. My appetite has been spoilt so did not actually enjoy the food.

And why no food for my better half? Well, he did order the ribs which did not arrive even after all of us finished our food. So, he went to the counter and calmly told the waitress to cancel the order, went on to pay for the food and we left after that.

I know him and if it's not our anniversary dinner, he would have gone beserk there and then.
The review? Tak payahlah, not worth reviewing food, tak kiralah the quality of food, and the you wait forever waiting period.

Food Review - D Asria Garden Cafe

Yet another food review....

As usual, Friday nite is the eating out nite. And usually we will choose new venues for this occassion.

This time around we had dinner at this place in Bangi Lama called D Asria Garden Cafe. We drove by this place a couple of times but did not really stop to try the food there. One reason, this place only opens 4pm to midnite and we usually drove by this place during the day.

We ordered quite a number of dish. Siakap Masak Cili, Tomyam Campur, Paprik Campur, Sotong Goreng Tepung and Telur Dadar. Not to forget, Kerang Rebus.

This place offers quite an extensive menu selection. Not only the Thai food menu, there's also Nasi Lemak Ayam Kampung, Nasi Bubur and many more.

Now the review :

Ambiance - 3 - nice and cosy, they have this man made waterfall which I find blends well with this place
Taste - 2 - quite dissapointing. The tomyam was too sour and the fish was not fresh. You can really feel the taste of fish just left the freezer
Location - 3 - ok, just about 15 minutes drive from our home. But, need to really look cause the road there is quite narrow
Service - 3.5- excellent service, fast and courteous. If only this was complimented with good food
Price - 3 - considering the food was not that good, I find the price was really on the high side.

Overall, I don't think we are coming back here. Not worth the money lah.

Food Review - Vacation @ KB - Yati Ayam Percik

The final nite @ KB was the nite where we were searching for another good dinner at KB. I went to this one place while doing some work at KB before, so I thought that would be a good place to go for dinner.

The place is called Yati Ayam Percik. It's about 5 minutes drive from our hotel and when we reached there, the place was quite pack.

The cuties were excited watching the chicken and beef being grilled right in front of their eyes.

We ordered Nasi Kerabu accompanied with Gulai Kawah, Ayam Percik and Daging Bakar. The food was as good as how I remembered it to be.

My better half just couldn't resist to try one of the dessert. He said it was awesome!

Now the review :
Taste - 3.5 - suits my taste very well
Location - 3.5 - not having to drive that far was very ideal for us Service - 3 - oklah, but mcm slow skit
Price - 3.5 - very worth the money, cheap!

It's quite sad to leave KB the next day. We pledged to come here again and this time with more money...for more shopping!!

Food Review - Vacation @ KB - Nasi Ulam Cikgu

After the shopping trip @ Pengkalan Kubor, I wanted to bring my better half and the cuties for lunch at a very prominent lunch place at Kota Bharu. The place is called Nasi Ulam Cikgu. I did not get the chance to take photos of the signboard so found this via google image. I had lunch here during one of my working trips to Kota Bharu.

My baby was so tired waiting for her mama doing the shopping that she slept all the way to the makan place.

This place was very crowded. We reached there around 2pm and thought that's like after lunch hour so there won't be many people there. Well, there were alot of people there.
This place is famous for all the ulams they served. You can see so many type of ulams and some you may not have seen or heard before.

My better half and the cuties had ikan patin and ikan keli while I had fried chicken since I don't take ikan sungai. Of course with the ulams and sambal belacan. Still don't have the guts to take budu.The cuties love this place, so did my better half. I'm glad, cause I really wanted to share the places I've been to with them.

So, now the review :
Taste - 3.5 - everything was ok, just that we were late so not there's not many choices
Location - 3 - parking was very difficult, we parked right at the junction and prayed that we don't get a ticket
Service - 4 - very friendly and fast
Price - 4 - cheap. All in with drinks were only RM25

This place is very worth visiting if you are in KB. Make sure you do drop by if you are in the neighbourhood.

Food Review - Warung Dusun Sup Gear Box

We are preparing for our family vacation. We planned this since January which is something we don't usually do for vacations. Usually we would be the pack-and-go type but we thought no to risk it as the place that we planned to visit is hours away from Bangi.

So, we decided not to stock up the fridge and to cook whatever is available during the day and to eat out for dinner. We are ok with this arrangement as it is only for 2 days.

We often drove by this venue, right after the Kajang-Bangi PLUS to exit but never had the chance to really stop and try the food here. This place was also recommended by my better half's colleagues. So, we thought to give it a try last night.

What can I say, I was not dissapointed. We ordered white rice, sup gear box(the speciality here), paprik campur, ayam goreng kunyit, telur dadar and kerang rebus. My baby did not feel like having rice so she had mee hailam instead. The service was superfast! There were quite a crowd in the outlet but we waited less than 10 minutes for our food and I am not kidding nor exegerrating. That is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And yours truly was very surprised and was not able to hide her happiness considering she did not eat anything the whole day so that she can have a nice dinner.
The ambiance was very nice. With waterfall and everything, the cuties enjoyed it.

The main dish, Sup Gearbox. Was having trouble explaining to the cuties the gear box name origin and as usual I will just respond - Soalan tu susah lah, tanya papa jer lah.

My hero trying the straw thing which he did not enjoy at all. But for my better half, this was his favourite part. I was trying to explain to him on the calories content and cholestrol but he just ignored me and kept on sipping.

Now the review :
Taste - 3.5 - not too bad, love the soup but the paprik kureng skit. The kerang were really fresh though
Location - 3.5 - very convenient, we can choose the trunk road or the highway
Service - 4.5 - SUPERFAST and to our disbelief!! And before you ask, the food was hot and freshly cooked, I know, I can tell
Price - 4 - not bad. For all that we ordered with drinks, it costs us RM41.

So, care for Gearbox, mari ler ke Bandar Baru Bangi.

Food Review - Haji Rony Tomyam

As usual, Friday nite is the eating out nite for our family. I wanted to blog about this earlier but forgotlah! Last Friday we had our dinner at Haji Rony Tomyam & Seafood.

This place was introduced by my former boss and we have been frequenting it since then. It's located at Jln Kuchai Lama right after the exit of NPE. It's just next to the old Pondok Polis Kuchai Lama. There are many stalls there but this one located right at the corner.

The speciality of this place is the ikan siakap masak stim. I don't usually eat steam fish cause takut rasa hanyir. But, here it's different. The steam fish is so nice and the gravy is simply awesome.

We will also add on sotong goreng tepung, tomyam and telur dadar. That's the usual.

The price is very affordable. For all that we ordered plus the large glass of fruit juice, it costs us RM42. Not bad for KL area.

Taste - 3.5 - for this visit but usually the taste deserves 5 points, tukang masak tak sihat kot

Food Review - Ayam Golek Dara, Nilai

Nope, I have yet to give up on my diet. But, weekend will be the day I will enjoy the good food with my family. However, I still stick to one meal per day thingy. So far, self discipline still is in tact.

We have been wanting to try this place. We heard it from our community forum and they recommended for others to try this place. It's located right after Pekan Nilai, the road leading to Labu. It's about 20 minutes drive from where we live.

This place only opens 4pm onwards. Choices are quite ok, of course the speciality will be the Ayam Golek. This is eaten with Nasi Lemak which by the way is so delicious.

I also had Char Kuey Teow which was also not bad.

The cuties were so excited watching the ayam bergolek. Love to watch them!(the cuties I mean, not the ayam)

Nasi lemak happens to be my hero's favourite, so, he was really enjoying himself with the spicy sambal.

Now the review :
Taste - 4 - My better half is so very fussy plus cerewet ya amat when it comes to food, so seeing him enjoying the food speaks for itself.
Location - 4 - easy access for us, no toll, no traffic jem, just a lot of traffic lights
Service - 4.5 - very efficient and friendly
Price - 4 - very affordable, for food we had, it only cost us RM20.

Food Review - Umbai Seafood Galore @ Melaka

The moment we have been waiting for...Okaylah, at least, the moment I have been waiting for. The main reason why we decided to be in Melaka. Of course, to have a seafood fiesta at Umbai. Very famous and well know for the fresh and delicious seafood.

We left after maghrib prayers and the place was already jam packed. We felt it's gonna be difficult to get a parking space so we parked quite a distance from the makan area, in front of the nearby houses. It was about less than 10 minutes walk to the place.

We were recommended to visit the first stall called D Muara. We managed to get a place to sit and when my better half and I wanted to choose what fishes and seafood to have, we were denied from our right to order(haiyoo, why sound so serious), apparently the kitchen couldn't cope with the current orders. So, we decided to change to another restaurant, and the only place that have table for us was at the last stall, called Parameswara.

We ordered butter prawn, lala masak pedas, sotong goreng tepung, ikan jenahak bakar, sup cendawan and of course eaten with of course nasi lemak! When all the food arrived, we thought...banyak giler! Sapa nak makan nie...

Actually, the food was finished selicin-licinnyer...Yup, I forego my diet for this one night. Seminggu sekali takpe, make sure buat heavy work out tomorrow to burn all those calories.The total bill was only RM100. That was below than what we expected. Now the review :

Taste - 4 - really sedap! We were afraid we will be dissapointed since we did not eat at the recommended stalls but we were so please with the food! Hingga menjilat jari!
Location - 3.5 - Ok, if you are already in Melaka, I admire those those who are willing to drive for good food, wish I have the guts to do that. And this place that we ate, it was facing the river so the breeze was really nice
Service - 4- fast even there were many customers around
Price - 4 - cheap, we thought it will come to at least RM200....

What I learnt today?

It was a good thing we have this family bonding thingy before we start with a New Year where life will be back to the normal hecticness. And wanting to ensure I keep one of my New Year resolution, I have started to make early planning of the holidays in 2009. Again, work just need to stop when it's time to be with family!

This entry is not only for the food review, this entry also done inconjuction to my better half's birthday celebration we had last night. We chose to go to this place as it was recommended by Mrs Green. For those living in Bangi area, this place is located near Soho and the furniture centre, behind Petronas.

I have pre-ordered earlier just to be sure we don't have to wait for the food. I was also told this place can be quite packed so we better make reservations.

We arrived around 8.30pm and not even after 3 minutes upon our arrival, the food was served. And the food was still hot!

This is what we ordered
Tomyam Campur

Ikan - we ordered 2 type, one is Siakap Masam Pedas and the other one, Kerapu Ladprik

Sayur campur, sotong goreng tepung, paprik campur and telur dadar...of course with sambal belacan.

The cuties simply love this place as it is surrounded by fish pond full of japanese cub(betul ke spelling nie). The view was nice and reflect the name of the place, Village View.

Coincedently, my parents were staying at our house so it's so nice to have them join the celebration.

Now the review :
Taste - 4.5 - one of the best tom yam I have tasted and the fishes were really fresh

Location - 3.5

Service - 4.5 - the staff was polite and was also fast

Price - 3.5 - not bad...

Food Review - Impiana KLCC

Last Friday, I had a dinner outing with my Sports team mate, the Kryptonites. This dinner was to celebrate the winning money(though we got 4th place, we still got away with some cash). The kapitan decided to invite just those who have contributed which I felt was a fair reqiuest.
We also invited Ms MC, though she has left the company but when she was still around, she contributed alot for the team. She was also the head cheerleader during her tenure in this company.

I was still on diet so this is the only food I had. Forgot to take photo of the steam vege I had as well.

The hotel was of course decorated in a very Christmasy environment which was predictable. It's the season of the year kan?

The guys enjoying the food. Though we did not win much, but there were not many of us, so we still got to celebrate the money in style

Now the review...
Overall, the food was ok. The choices however, were quite limited compared to other buffet spread in KL. However, I felt it's was worth the price we paid.
So, how many points did they earned?
Taste - 3.5, the laksa, I was told was not that good(tak rasa pun). But the butter prawn was the best!
Location - 3 - ok if you are in the area already, but if you are coming from elsewhere, the traffic may kill you!
Service - 4.5 - excellent service, very satisfied
Price - 3 .5 - for that kind of spread, ok kot?

Nine West Warehouse Sale

Hi, first entry for this blog. This blog is still work in progress as I am planning to transfer the food reviews for this blog to here. Apologies on the boring layout and no fancy thingy yet. As mentioned, still work in progress.

First entry is the review of the Nine West Warehouse Sale.

Nine West is one of my favourite brand for shoes. Not so for the handbags though. So, when I got to know there will be a Warehouse Sale for this brand, I was so very excited.

The sale was at Avenue K, the building near KLCC and on top of KLCC LRT station. I went there with Cik Puan Ambang during lunch time yesterday. It was not that crowded and the selection of shoes are not so wide.

But, the prices were really cheap. At the range of 30% to 60% off from the original price. From my observation, the cheapest you shoes you can get is RM99 and the most expensive is at RM350. If you are AMEX or Maybank card holder, you will get an additional of 10% discount.

So, what did I get??

This Enzo sandal. Saw the same one at Isetan 2 months ago and the price was nearly RM400. I got it for RM99.

This black Nine West shoes, the heels are about 2 inches. Very nice and classic. I got it for RM169, original price is about RM349.

Cik Puan Ambang got herself this black Nine West Sandal at RM169, the original price is RM349.

Since Cik Puan Ambang is a Maybank card holder, we enjoyed another 10% discount.

For those who are interested to go, the sale will end on 14 December 2008...

Food Review - Roti Canai Bandar Baru Bangi

Last weekend, we have planned to have breakfast at this place recommended by Ms GTL. She said, during her uni years in UKM, this place was(and still is) very famous among the students. This place is located in Bandar Baru Bangi, near the furniture mall and opposite Esso petrol station. It's right after you enter the Kajang exit along the PLUS highway heading to Bandar Baru Bangi. Quite easy to identify. The place is on a small hill with loads of cars and people.

We arrived around 9.15am and already, there are so many customers. The place was packed and we got the last 2 tables there. Actually, they not only have Roti Canai there, they also have nasi lemak(with lots of choices for the lauk), soto(mee, mee hon, nasi impit), otak2 and tahu bakar. We ordered mostly everything on the menu ; nasi lemak sambal kerang, soto nasi, otak2 and of course nasi roti canai(one each for everyone).

The service was quite efficient. We were attended to immediately after we were seated. The food also arrived not so long after that. Except for the otak2, apparently they forgot about this order.
Now, the review....

Taste - 3 - Ok lah...nothing to shout at, but somehow, I felt all the food were kurang masin, I thought it was me, but my better half and the cuties also felt the same way, healty food kot?Location - 3.5 - convenient for us considering we are now part of Bangi clan, but parking may be a problem cause it's quite limited.

Service - 4- fast even there were many customers around

Price - 4 - cheap, the breakfast for all of us with all the above menu was less than RM20

And look who we bumped into there. Dato' Dr Fadzilah Kamsah. From the way he converse with the shop people, either he is a regular or he is just friendly to everyone whom he just met. He looks older though compared to him in TV.

Last word, be early if you want to eat here. When we arrived, they were already announcing, they don't accept orders for take away. Laku betul kan!

Food Review - Smokehouse Steamboat

I was fasting yesterday, alhamdulilah completed 4 days, 2 more days to go...Sempat ker nie...

My better half was asking me what do I feel like having for Iftar. I was actually exhausted, the LRT gave me a double trouble yesterday, once during my way to work and another time was during on my way back...And on the way back was the worst!!!

So, he suggested, let's go to Smokehouse Steamboat. This will be our second time to the place. The first time was a pleasant experience so we hope the second one will be as pleasant as the first.

I arrived at Kelana Jaya station 10 minutes to 7pm, and iftar time is also 7pm. However, my better half was stuck in traffic so he arrived only at 7.15pm. While waiting for him, I had air kotak for buka puasa. We stopped at a nearby mosque after that for maghrib prayers then headed to Smokehouse place. And alhamdulilah, it did not dissapoint us.

The cuties enjoyed themselves as well especially on the desert, ice cream free flow tu...

Now the review...

Taste - 4 - Love the food there, for the price that we are paying, memang best!!
Location - 4 - easy access since we were in KJ
Service - 4- Friendly and fast
Price - 4 - worth the money..

Food Review - Sari Ratu Nasi Padang

I was fasting on Tuesday, and wanted so badly to have Nasi Padang from Sari Ratu. We planned to have this during Ramadhan for buka puasa but the day we made the arrangements, the traffic was so bad and we ended up have the ala Ratu Buka Puasa in the car instead.I have been receiving good reviews from friends who have eaten here so I wanted to give it a try. This particular branch is in Kelana Jaya.

We ordered quite a feast(the cuties did not join us, just me and my better half). We ordered Ayam Pop - short form of Ayam Popular and this came with a special sauce and pucuk ubi rebus, Gulai Tunjang - my better half's favourite, vege, crispy spicy potato and this special dish which came from Indonesia like a mini eel crispy fried and cooked with chilli. Of course, this will not be complete with the sambal merah.

The gulai tunjang, the spine of a cow and my better half's favourite. Not my kind of food so I just had the gravy.

The mini eel crispy fried, recommended as a must try at this place.

Here's the review....
Taste - 2.5 - not too bad, but not to my liking

Service - 2 - lembab skit ler

Price - 3.5 - ok, quite affordable

Food Review - Grand Bluewave Hotel

If last week, we took my in-laws to have iftar at Katerina Hotel, Batu Pahat, this week it's my parents turn for the iftar session. And again, like previous years we chose Grand Bluewave Shah Alam. Reason to choose this location :

1. During weekend, they offer every paying adult, one child will be free.

2. Senior citizen is charge same rate as children.
3. The location is very suitable, not so far from KJ.

Every year, right before fasting month, the hotel would call us to check whether we are interested to have buffet Ramadhan at their hotel.

Taste - 4 - Love the food there, the buffet spread is really wide, I did not get the chance to taste all, the char kuey teow was marvellous
Location - 4 - about 15 minutes drive from KJ. Parking was very easy.
Service - 4.5 - fast and systematic, very well prepared

Price - 4 - quite high but worth every cent

I know my dad had a good time. Though he is very good at hiding it.

I think we will continue to come here next year, kalau ada rezeki....

Food Review - Bora Ombak

This review is in conjuction with the buka puasa event organised by Jimmy for the division.

The location is chosen based on:

1. Recommendation in the internet
2. We wanted to go out from KLCC
3. But not too far from KLCC

Nevertheless, the traffic was really bad, we arrived at Ampang Point at 5.30pm to do some Raya shopping(shopping lagik!!!) and then left for Bora Ombak at 6.30pm. We arrived there at 6.55pm despite the place is within walking distance from Ampang Point. And the rain makes the jem ever worse. Now, the review :

Ambiance - 4.5 - I love it so much, so cosy though Cik Puan Ambang commented lampu malap sangat so tak puas nak makan...
Taste - 3.5 - ok lah, not bad and first time I had bakso. Pedaslah!
Location - 2.5 - never like this area, possibility of me getting lost is very high
Service - 3 - not so bad, they cleared the table quite fast.
Price - 2 - pricey compared to the spread offered. RM55++, tak berbaloilah.

And we were supposed to present Ms TS birthday, but me, a mangkok person , left the gift on my office table. So, tengokler gambo nyer sini dulu, and lurza will get the gift to you tomorrow.

All and all, we had fun, laughters were non stop. Compensate lah with the not so impressive food.

Food Review - Buffet Ramadhan Katerina Batu Pahat

It has been a tradition for us to bring our parents for buffet Ramadhan during this fasting month. We started this about 4 years ago, considering that we are more financially secure and why not share the wealth with you loved ones.

Last weekend was with my in-laws in Batu Pahat. We brought them to Katerina Hotel(yup, the hotel where the so called ex-minister's hotel happened) since this is the only descent hotel in Batu Pahat.

They were 10 of us ; my mom and dad in-law, Adik, my brother in-law and wifey plus the 5 of us. We had pre-booked this earlier to ensure that there are table for us.

If you noticed, my princess and my baby are now into tying their hair in 2. Ini keje Adik ler nie...

The buffet spread was ok, I guess, worth the price we are paying, RM30++ per head for adult and RM20++ for the cuties. Mana nak dapat this kind of price kat KL ok??

The decorations were really classic. They even have entertainer to sing while we enjoy our meal. But the problem was, that man should be singing Raya song, not the Golden oldies hits from Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, just to name a few....Sometimes it felt like we are in a club...

They even have organised a lucky draw event. And, don't even asked whether did any of us win...Pernah ke we all nie menang lucky draw pun...

So, now, here's the review.

Taste - 3.5 -Not bad, love the spread, really kampung, siap ada ubi goreng and rebus cicah dengan sambal kicap. Of course, the asam pedas was a hit
Location - 3 - ok lah, about 30 minutes drive from the kampung
Service - 4 - excellent service, very customer service oriented
Price - 4 - with that kind of choice, I felt it was worth it...

Nak kena survey tempat lain lah, every year eating here, bosan gak kan....

Food Review - Swensen

Caution : Before you start scrolling down, kindly be warned this entry contained explicit pictures that may harm those who are currently fasting. Sabar yer, buka puasa still remain right after azan magrib, not zuhur.

Yesterday, my better half has a buka puasa function organised by one of his vendors. Though they allowed to bring the family, I declined the invitation, just don't want to be out of place and thinks my better half may want to be with his friends for a change. Sekali sekala takpe lah.......

However, since my better half yang tak boleh takde nasi for buka puasa was not around, I took this opportunity to bring the cuties for iftar where we can enjoy western food. It's been quite sometime since we've been to Swensen, hence Swensen it is @ Subang Parade.

The cuties looking at the menu, figuring out what to order, everything look so delicious. My hero was not feeling well, however, still want to continue with his fasting. He is very determined to puasa penuh this year.

What did we have?

And the finale, of course Earthquake!!! This is very famous in Swensen, and on Tuesdays, the price is 50% off, cause Tuesday is Earthquake Day!

Food Review - Ziera Buffet Steamboat Bangi

We agreed that this weekend, we will eat out for Iftar. Reason ; we have many things to do and many places to go to complete the house. Where got time to cook one??

Me, being a Minah Google, was googling the interesting places that we can have our Iftar while my better half was driving around to various destination.

I found this place, Ziera Buffet Steamboat located at Sekyen 9 Bangi. We tried calling the number as per the published in the internet, however the line was busy, retried for the next 4 hours, still busy. We should have taken that as a sign not to eat there...

But, did we? Nope. We decided to go to the place and make the reservation in person. After that, we drove around again to search what other interesting place in BBB.
We went there again at 7pm and the place was already packed.

We took whatever that we want to eat and sat down while waiting for the azan maghrib.

My better half was busy heating up the soup ; by the way they have 2 choices of soup, one is chicken and the other is tom yam soup.

Overall review

Ambiance - 1 - very the hot, ventilation was very bad, I wanted to give 0 but kejam pulak kan

Taste - 2 - the tomyam was near tasteless, they also served rendang and ayam masak merah which were so masin!

Location - 3 - quite ok, but parking may be a problem

Service - 3 - not bad except for the cashier failed to calculate the total bill and the change even by using the calculator!

Price - 2 - mahal ler compared to the choices available RM22 for adult and RM13 for kids, we thought they have ice cream, rupenyer tong ice cream ade ler...so very misleading

Baik bungkus makan kat rumah, not worth it at all!

Food Review - Santai Kopitiam

I know many may not like the idea of me doing food review during fasting month but take this as a test towards the kekuatan of our keimanan...

This time we ate at Santai Kopitiam near our new habitat. It was supposed to be lunch but was taken around 3pm 2 days before the fasting month begin.

We ordered various food in the menu namely :

Laksa
Kids PlatterIce Cream Goreng

I felt cheated actually after eating here. The portion was small and the food was near tasteless. After paying the bill I was more hungry and frustrated compared to when I walked in the place.
So, here's the rating :
Ambiance - 4 - you could be fooled by this, remember don't judge a book by it's cover, the same rules apply
Taste - 2
Location - 4 - considering it's near to our place
Service - 2 - lembab giler, azab menunggu and we are the only customer in shop, still lambat
Price - 2 - not worth the money

Food Review - Traders Hotel

Our division usually have this lunch get together thingy quarterly. We will be celebrating those whose birthday fall during that period as well as new joiner.

This time around, the celebration was held at Traders Hotel.
The choice of food is quite limited compared to other hotels, but not too bad.

Got ice-cream cone one....so nice!!!

The venue was quite convenient for us, we can opt whether to walk or wait for the buggy ride. This time around on the way there, we walked half way and took the buggy and on the way back we walked all the way since we felt we have over eaten, at least I felt that way.

Back to hotel again for maghrib prayers, before heading out again for dinner. During day time, we searched for steamboat, it's difficult to find a halal one here. We imagine how nice it is to have steamboat with the kind of temperature in Cameron. We finally found one a stone throw away from our hotel.
It was nice, RM26 for 2 person which to me looked like food enough for 4 pax! They have 2 type of soup; chicken and tom yam. That suited us very well, some like it hot and some may not...The review.......

Mama, apasal ikan abang tak sampai nie, nasi abang dah nak habis....

Mama, nasi kakak dah habis, mana ikan bawal sweet and sour??

Those were the grouses heard from the cuties. We were starving and wanted to have a good dinner at Brinchang, so we chose this place, Nik Ikan Bakar & Tomyam.

Man, was I dissapointed?

Not only the service was slow, they mixed up our our order by sending our fish to the other table and we had to wait further for them to prepare another one. And muka masing2, like we were there to menyusahkan hidup diaorang.

I was trying to control everyone especially my better half, who is not a very patient man when it comes to food.

On similar note, can some one please please please tell me, why do most(not all) malay business owner, be it food place owner ke, kedai runcit ke, or whatever business have problem to smile and be courteous. Don't they know every person that walks in, is rezeki to them. Tak bersyukur langsung. Macam mana nak tolong orang melayu. If you go to most(again, not all) chinese shop, they will treat you like a king!! That's how it should be....

My review, just as simple as this....avoid this place, even if it's the only place open in this area.

Makan biskut lagi best and tak menyakitkan hati. On top of that mahal giler....

Food Review - SS19 Subang Jaya

Like every other day, I had a late night again on Friday. Too much work, so little time....so little time with the family, Alhamdulilah I managed to make this weekend a work free weekend. I did not bring any work home, like the previous weeks...Sometimes we just have to prioritize kan.....

I called my better half, who promised to come and pick me up that night...I asked him whether it would be ok for him to bring the cuties along when he comes and pick me up, thought of having dinner together.

I was craving for sate but due to health reason, I can't take any meat for a week. We headed to this favourite fast food place at SS19 Subang Jaya. We frequented this place even before I got married.

I had mushroom soup with garlic bread

My hero had sate and nasi goreng - I know I said I wanted sate but it's ok, Iman akak nie kuat ok!My better half, nama pun perut melayu, of course rice with paprik campur and telur dadar
My princess and my baby shared the chicken chop, the portion here is big, makan sorang tak habis.

During our visit balik kg visit, my better half and I went to this new place at Parit Raja called Bisik-Bisik. The place was very nice and memang easily identified. It's 2 storey high and looks like the rumah2 kg style.

However, the menu has not much choices. Quite limited actually. I saw they had lamb chop in the menu so I went ahead and ordered. Alhamdulilah, I was not dissapointed!

So, here goes for the ratings!

Ambiance - 5 - I love it soooo much, very classic!

Taste - 3.5
Location - 3

Service - 2(we sat on the 2nd floor, susah nak get the attention of the waiter)

Food Review - Tamarind Hills

I was invited to attend a farewell event by one of our consultant who over the period I took care of GREEN, became my friends. And how sad, I have to bid farewell to one of them...Ms Af.
The venue that was chosen was Tamarind Hills near KDE, Ampang. Never been there and I am not familiar with that area at all! Fyi, this place serves Indo-China food.

The place was very cozy and full of trees, so it was pretty refreshing, not to mention cool!

I don't like ordering considering I've never been here, and I am not the one paying so better let the ordering done by the expert.
The appetizer, duck in spoon...complimentary. Since I don't eat duck, I gave this a pass. Lain kali nak bagik benda free, can we have chicken please?

Then followed by this platter consists of all types of snacks - I only took the one in the tomato i.e. with something like chicken curry inside.

Followed by the main courses, we have fish, chicken, beef and soft shell crabs. Not forgetting the vege, asparagus and tom yam.

If we attend an event with Mr Har, speech is a must! This time around, Mrs Green gave one of behalf of me and Mr Creative. Thank God! I think after this long 2 months, I am done with giving speeches!

Taste - 1.5 (no offence, this is just not my kind of food)
Location - 3
Service - 3(though some of the waiter were not able to converse using proper English, they were polite)
Price - from the menu, it was quite ok

I am going to start this review on food considering that I talk about food most of the time, okaylah, sometimes all the time.

The scoring will be based on the ambiance, taste, location, service and price. The points will be from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best.

We'll start with a food tasting event that we went the other day. It was at Prince Hotel.

We started with the starter...macam pantun lak kan...We had 2 starter pasembor and soto...

Then followed by the main course, with many types of lauk.....

Desert was kuih muih...

We have given our comments to the Chef and this must be taken into consideration during the real dinner...
